Baby New Year

New Years Baby's

With today being New Year's Eve and the famous phrase baby new year being one were usually hear on this day I thought I would share two big celebrity baby stories that broke very recently.

My first congrats go to Mr. Matthew McConaughey and his wife Camila Alves welcomed their third child on Friday December 28th. They had a son and named him Livingston Alves McConaughey. Livingston joins his brother Levi, 4, and sister Vida, 3. I am sure just like their other children Livingston will be just as beautiful as his mommy and daddy. Report say both mother and baby are doing great. I am sure it will be a very busy 2013 for the McConaugheys now with 3 under the age of 5.

Another couple that is going to be super busy in 2013 is Kim Kardashian and Kanye West. They have just announced that Kim is in fact pregnant with her first child. She is supposedly 12 weeks along (3 months). I am sure this means there will be at least 3 more kardashian spin offs and/or specials for us to watch about the new little bundle of joy. No word on if there will be a "Kimye" wedding in 2013 yet since Kim is still not officially divorced for her ex Kris Humphries. I am sure when they do decide to get married it will just as big of a deal as her last wedding. Congrats to the couple and hopefully everything going well for them.

I think 2013 is going to be a giant year for celebrity babies and weddings! Can't wait to watch it all unfold.

Django Unchained

Django Unchained

Over the holiday break I took the time to go to the movies to check out one of the many new releases as did so many others. I saw "Django Unchained" which was written and directed by Mr. Quentin Tarantino. If you are a fan of Tarantino's previous works you will love his newest release. "Django Unchained" is a sort of rags to riches story told from the eyes of a slave, Django played by Jamie Foxx, with all of the classic Tarantino signatures. There is amazingly witty dialogue, plenty of blood being spattered onto everything (especially white objects like snow, cotton, white walls, etc.), and even Samuel L. Jackson being basically a bad ass who is in charge (even as a slave).  Jamie Foxx plays Django, a slave who gets his freedom from a dentist/bounty hunter (Dr. Schultz) who needs his help. I felt Jamie Foxx was given a character who didn't have a huge amount of depth and played it that way. I think it is hard be a stand out character when this movie has so many other outstanding roles, but Jamie Foxx does his best to pull it off.

The man responsible for giving Django his freedom and helping him get acquainted with the world is Dr.King Schultz a dentist/ bounty hunter. This is by far the best role and performance in the movie and is played by the amazing Christoph Waltz. He plays the character so well and is one of the most human figures in the movies crazy world of inhumane treating of human beings. He is what ties the story together and keeps us laughing and smiling through the movie. Dr. Schultz teaches Django the ways of the bounty hunting business and tells him he will help him find his wife who got sold to a plantation somewhere in the south.

Django and Dr.Schultz search records and find out  his wife is living on a plantation in Mississippi called Candyland. The owner of the plantation is Monsieur Calvin Candie, played by Leonardo DiCaprio. Leonardo DiCaprio does a great job of playing the role of a horrible man and slave owner yet at the same time kind of making you smile and just as quick as you smile you then cringe. His head slave and right hand man is played by Samuel L. Jackson who seems to always be one step ahead of everyone which is not always a good thing for Django.

This movie is essentially a roller coaster ride which is thrilling and fun. I suggest if you like Mr.Quentin Tarantino you make a point of it to go see this movie before it is out of theaters. Right now it is nominated for     multiple Golden Globes including best picture drama, best supporting actor (Leonardo DiCaprio and Christoph Waltz) and best screenplay. I am sure when Oscar nominations come out we will much of the same from this film.

Top 12 of 2012

Hello all, my name is Jami and I love so many things, music, movies, television, food, and celebrities. I figured why not write a blog about all of my favorite things going on in the world and share these thoughts and feelings, who knows maybe there are others out there who feel the same. With this being my first post and probably my last one of 2012 I figured I would do a recap of my 12 favorite things of 2012. This is going to be very hard but I am going to give it a shot. Here we go.

12. Carly Rae Jepsen. Even if you hated her this year you know when her song came on the radio you were singing along. Her two hit songs of the year ("Call Me Maybe" and "Good Time" with Owl City) get stuck in everyone's head and make you smile. Her hit "Call Me Maybe" was lip-synced to on YouTube by just about everyone and their mom this year including Justin Beiber and the US Olympic team. Along with that it was the top downloaded song on iTunes in 2012. And for the joy and annoyance her songs brought to us all this year I am making her my number 12 favorite thing of 2012.

11. "Somebody That I Used To Know" by Goyte featuring Kimbra. This song was a lot like the previous ones I have talked about with the fact that whenever it came on you couldn't help but sing it and by sing it I mean yell it out really loud in your car. The only difference was I felt less people were ashamed to admit that they rocked out to this song. Everyone needs to sing to the top of their lungs sometimes and this song gave us all a chance to do that in 2012 which why it is number 11 on my list.

10. London. So many things happened in this great city this year. We got to celebrate the Queens jubilee which had many TV specials and concerts. These allowed us to take a glimpse into the royal world and rock out all at the same time. And even though the Queen doesn't control anything in this country she still has always been apart of our lives. The summer Olympics were also held in London and went off beautifully. The opening and closing ceremonies were a sight to be seen and they did an amazing job hosting the games. And finally London has given us William and Kate who just a while ago announced they are pregnant with their first child. I think we can all agree we can not wait to see 2013 unfold for those two.

9. Bruno Mars. Between his SNL hosting gig a few weeks out and his new single "Locked Out Of Heaven" Bruno is killing it. This guy is just bursting with talent. His voice is flawless and is very reminiscent of the late MJ. His newest album "Unorthodox Jukebox" Just came out last week and I am sure it is just as amazing as his other stuff and if it is I believe he will have an amazing 2013, so watch out.

8. Joseph Gordon-Levitt. This man has had one hell of a year with 4 great movies that came out in 2012 including "The Dark Knight Rises" and the Golden Globe best picture drama nominated film "Lincoln". On top of that he killed it hosting SNL a few months back and has been out promoting his own self project hitRECord, which is a website he put together so other unknown artist can come together and create amazing things together. It is pretty amazing and every artist should check it out.

7. Adele. Another artist who had an amazing year. She had the top selling record on iTunes this year with her sophomore album 21 with selling over 10 million copies. That record had many hits including "Someone Like You" and "Rolling in the Deep". She won 6 Grammy's in the beginning of the year for the same record. She has also had an amazing year personally with her engagement to boyfriend Simon Konecki and the birth of her first child, a son, in October. Congrats to her all the way around for her in 2012.

6. Katy Perry. This girl had a year of ups and downs with her personal and professional life. Professionally she had a great year. Her album Teenage Dream has more hits on it then we know what to do with. Her Teenage Dream: The Complete Confection has 8 singles on it that were top 5 hits if not number 1 on the hot 100 list. She came out with Katy Perry:A Part of Me, a documentary that allowed us to see into her personal life, what is like to be on the road with her, concert clips, and her rise to fame. Sadly it also documented her recent divorce to her ex-husband Russel Brand. As viewers we got to see the raw emotion and sadness of that hard time in her life. I think we can all agree we hope she doesn't have moments like that in 2013.

5. New Girl. This year this show brought us so many funny laugh out loud moments. We have got to watch Jesse become more a part of her roommates lives along with going through the hilarious ups and downs of life. Nick become yet more awkward and Schmidt and Cece fall in and out of "love" over and over again. I think as viewers we can not wait to see what shenanigans this crazy bunch will go threw in 2013. Maybe a wedding or a baby, who knows.

4. Glee. This year has been an interesting year for the students at McKinley High. With the end of season three we got to see many of our favorite students graduate and go on to bigger and better things which left us all wondering how will season 4 be. They have done a great job bringing in some new blood with new cast members and new story lines while at the same time bringing back past cast regulars to show us what they are up to. Along with seeing what is going on in the high school we get to follow Rachel and Kurt live out there New York City dreams. I would say the best episodes of the year of been the tribute ones. They did an amazing job with their Micheal Jackson episode, The Whitney episode, which really allowed us all to recognize how amazing the late singer was, and the Brittney 2.0 episode which was filled with so many amazing Brittney remixes of her hit songs. The writers and creators of the show do such an amazing job picking and using songs that work well with the story they are telling and yet sound amazing. Along with this and the ever present drama that the show brings it is amazing to watch every week. Can't wait to see what 2013 brings from Glee.

3. The 2012 Olympics and Team USA. The 2012 Olympics gave us so many great moments this year and allowed us to all cheer on our country which is always awesome. We got to watch the amazing Michael Phelps become the most decorated Olympian of all time winning a total of 22 medals in his career. We also got to see our women's gymnastic team, otherwise known as the fab five, take home team gold. Along with all of this team USA brought home the most medals from the games with 104 medals total. We dominated the games and hopefully we do the same during the winter Olympics in 2014 in Sochi, Russia.

2. Homeland. This show is so good and so addicting you can not help but love it. The story line and drama pulls you in and makes you beg for more. Claire Danes and Damian Lewis are so good and play their characters on the show so well you believe them with everything they say and do. This explains why this year homeland was nominated for countless awards and walked away with 3 Golden Globes including Best actress in a drama (Claire Danes), best actor in a drama (Damian Lewis) and Best drama series. If you have not checked it out please do, trust me it is worth it.

1. President Obama. I know I said this was going to be a blog about entertainment and things of that nature but when thinking of a list of my favorite things in 2012 I could not help but make this man my number 1. I think our President is a great man both professionally and personally. I won't get to into why I feel this way I will just say I think he is going to put our country first and do great things for us over the next four years.

There it is my top 12 of 2012. I hope you enjoyed reading my list and agreed with at least some of picks. Check back in 2013 for more on my favorite things. Have an awesome New Year!
