Top 5 Fall TV Programs

Top 5 things I am excited to watch this fall

With fall right around the corner that means we are getting ready for new seasons of all of our favorite shows along with a bunch of new shows we get to start watching as well. With the climate of the world right now not being the most positive place I am much more of a comedy girl because these days because we all need a good laugh so you will notice that almost all of the shows are comedies. Here are my top five programs I am excited to check out this fall.

1. "Better Late Than Never" This show is a hilarious looking reality show featuring four legends (Henry Winkler, Terry Bradshaw, William Shatner and George Foreman) as they travel across Asia. I know from the commercials and interviews that the guys get into some funny situations and eat some interesting foods for sure. It should be fun to watch. It debuted this past Tuesday on NBC.

"The Good Place" Another NBC show this one features funny girl Kristen Bell. The story behind this show is Bell dies and ends up in heaven through some kind of mix up and clearly is a little out of place. From the commercials it looks really funny. My favorite is seeing her try to curse even though she can't there so the f-word comes out as fork and bullsh*t is bullshirt. I hope there are even more funny parts to this show. This show premiers this September.

"The Great Outdoors" This show features Joel McHale as an adventure reporter who is put in charge as a manager of other digital journalist that are working on an outdoor lifestyle publication. One of the journalist will be played by Christopher Mintz-Plasse who is best known for playing McLovin in the hilarious comedy "Superbad". I am not going to lie seeing that Mintz-Plasse was in it is what made me think "I want to watch that" but I am hoping that the whole cast is very funny. "The Great Outdoors" will be on CBS starting in late October.

"Man With a Plan" Also on CBS starting in late October is this family comedy staring Matt Leblanc as a stay-at -home dad while his wife goes back to work. I haven't heard a ton about this show, but I am just crossing my fingers that it feels like we are watching Joey Tribbiani if we saw him 12 years after "Friends" and he is now older and grey and settled down with the wife and kids. We will see if it is anything like that.

My last choice is more of a category than just one show, I am excited for the live musicals that will be put on this year by NBC and FOX. I feel like every year NBC is getting better and better with their live musicals and this year they are taking on one of my favorites, "Hairspray". They have a great cast including Kristen Chenoweth, Martin Short, Ariana Grande and dancing with the star alum Derek Hough. I think they are going to have another great show this year and I can't wait to see it this December. Over at FOX following their success of "Grease Live" they are doing

"Rocky Horror Picture Show" with Victoria Justice and Ryan McCartan in the staring roles of Janet and Brad and Laverne Cox as Dr. Frank-N-Furter. I am not as big of a fan of this musical as I am of the other, but I am still excited to see it live on FOX this October 20th.

NKOTB on Fuller House

"Fuller House" special guests in Season 2

Being a lifelong boy band fan I always get excited when I hear an old favorite is going to be featured in something where we can relive their greatness. Today news broke that the late 80's early 90's boy band New Kids on the Block will be featured on an episode of the hit Netflix show "Fuller House" which is a reboot of one of the best family sitcoms from the 90's "Full House". The reboot released its first season earlier this year to great reviews and many followers and is currently shooting season 2. During the first episode of season one the main characters DJ, Kimmy, and Stephanie made a reference to the boy band by playing one of their songs and doing a little dance routine so I think it is awesome that the group will make an actual appearance this upcoming season. Offset I know Andrea Barber (who plays Kimmy Gibbler) is a very big fan of the new kids which makes it even sweeter. No official date yet for when season 2 will premiere, but I know my family and I can't wait till it does.

Ferrell and Reilly Together Again

Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly are together again

Over the years we have been given multiple movies that feature Will Ferrell and John C. Reilly with the two most famous being "Step Brothers" and "Talladega Nights" and now we are about to get another. The two best friends will be staring as the famous detective duo Sherlock Holmes and John Watson in the upcoming comedy "Holmes and Watson". Etan Cohen who wrote comedies like "Tropic Thunder" and "Get Hard" will be the writer and director of this film as well which means he will bring the laughs. Supposedly the part of Watson was going to be played by Sasha Baron Cohen, but that didn't end up happening so now John C. Reilly has stepped in the role, which I think is a much better choice. The amazing comedic dynamic of Ferrell and Reilly is always amazing to see on screen. There is no word on when they film will be released yet, but filming will begin later this year. I already can't wait to see this film.

N'SYNC Birthday Reunion

N'SYNC Reunion

Yesterday JC Chasez turned the big 4-0 and throughout the day his former band members from the boy band N'SYNC were wishing their pal happy birthday on social media. When we woke up this morning we got the best surprise ever, the 5 members of the famed boy band all got together last night to celebrate JC and all it took was this one photo of them all together to get all of us N'SYNC fans to lose our minds!! Any time we get any kind of N'SYNC reunion (even if it is just two or three of the guys) we all get excited and keep our hopes up that one day the greatest boy band of all time (in my opinion) will get back together again and perform, so seeing all five boys together and looking like they are having such a great time together really gets us excited. N'SYNC just this summer found out that due to their fans they are in the 2017 class of the Hollywood Walk of Fame which means N'SYNC will finally get a star like other boy bands like Backstreet Boys who got theirs a few years ago. Between the star, the reunions and all the love I know myself and many others are holding out hope that these five can come back for just one concert (or tour) so we can relieve the greatest part of the 90's again.

2016 Rio Olympics

Top 5 Events I'm Most Excited about at the 2016 Rio Olympics

Last night marked the official opening of the 2016 Rio summer Olympic games and I am so excited! Who doesn't love the olympics? Since I am at the end of my pregnancy and it is still a billion degrees outside I am even more excited than usual to watch all the sports coverage over the next coming weeks. Today alone I watched rugby, water polo and a crazy amount of cycling and those are three sports I never watch. So what 5 sports am I most excited to watch?? Let me tell you.....

5. Golf
Now normally I do not care to much for golf (especially watching it on TV) but this is the first time that golf has been an Olympic sport since way back in 1904!! Now that it is back on the Olympic stage I am excited for the golfers to be able to represent their countries and compete for a medal in a sport that they love.

4. Beach Volleyball
I have always enjoyed beach volleyball during the Olympics and I think it was because I have a soft spot for bff's Kerri Walsh-Jennings and Misty May-Treanor who have always seemed to dominate the sport. After the last Olympics Misty said that would be her last which is why this year it is a little bittersweet, because Kerri will competing with new teammate April Ross. Hopefully they can still do amazing and walk away with the gold.

3. Tennis
I am a fan of tennis throughout the year and watch most grand slam finals so of course I am excited to watch tennis in the Olympic setting a well. If watching tennis in the last year or two has shown me anything it is that Serena Williams is at the top of her game. Not only is she ranked number 1 in the world, but this also isn't her first Olympics but her fourth so she is a seasoned veteran as well. She already has 4 medals with only one of those being an individual medal. I think she has a good chance of walking away with the gold this time around.

2. Women's Gymnastics
Gymnastics is always a major highlight at the Olympics as it should be with the amazing things that those men and women do. This year I am so excited to see the women compete because of how high the caliber of talent is on the team. You have veterans like Ally Raisman and Gabby Douglas who competed during the last Olympics and walked away with gold as a team and Gabby as an individual. Then, you have the younger girls Madison Kocian and newly 16 year old Laurie Hernandez who will help the team out with their amazing skills. The one girl who everyone is most excited about is the one who has dominated the gymnastics field since the last Olympics and that is Simone Biles (I am sure you have heard her name being said a lot over the past couple months) and everyone is saying she has the best shot of walking away with the gold. I can't wait to see what she and the other four can do.

1. Swimming
About a year ago I remember watching the news and they said Michael Phelps was training again and was going to start competing again and once I heard that I was so excited and ready for another Michael Phelps filled Olympics. There is something about watching someone who probably will always be known as the greatest of all time that is so exciting. Every swim he does just adds to his amazing medal count (18 gold 22 all together) and is like watching a little piece of history. On top of being able to watch Phelps you have all the fun eye candy of guys like Ryan Lochte (even with his new white hair) and Nathan Adrian and sweet ladies like Missy Franklin and Katie Ledecky that you can't help but watch and root for. I am hoping the swim team can walk away with a lot of medals.

Regardless of the sport it is always fun to watch the games and root on team USA for a couple weeks. I hope we do amazing and walk away on the top of the medal count, GO TEAM USA!!

Remembering Garry Marshall

Looking back at the career of the great Garry Marshall

This week brought the sad news of the passing of the legendary Garry Marshall. Thinking of the amazing career this man had made me think of all the amazing TV shows and movies he was a part of. After looking back, I decided I would write about my top five favorite Garry Marshall projects that he was a part of. I know he will be dearly missed by many.

5. "Pretty Woman" Garry Marshall directed the classic story of "Pretty Woman" which gave us the amazing duo of Richard Gere and Julia Roberts. The unlikely rags to riches was told in such a way that you were always rooting for Julia Roberts character even though she was a prostitute. Who doesn't love "Pretty Woman"??

4. "Runaway Bride" 9 years after bringing us "Pretty Woman" Garry Marshall got Gere and Roberts together again and directed them in the adorable movie "Runaway Bride". Garry did a great job in both films to make you feel like these two were soulmates who were made to be together, but at the same time were real and complicated in their own way for sure. Makes me wonder if he was ever thinking of doing a third movie with these two in it together.

3. "Hocus Pocus" Though Garry Marshall didn't have a huge role in the film "Hocus Pocus" it still was one of the first things that popped in my head when I thought about him. Watching him play the devil or "master", as they called him in the movie, was fantastic. I love that he never skips a beat in that movie and just goes along with the witches thinking he is the devil. One of the best parts of his scene is his on-screen wife is played by his real life sister Penny Marshall whom he worked with often.

2. "A League of Their Own" This movie is another great example of Garry working with his sister Penny. Penny Marshall directed the great film "A League of Their Own" and she cast her brother as Walter Harvey who was running the women's baseball league during the war. This movie just shows you what a great team Garry and Penny were.

1. By far the most amazing contribution Garry Marshall had on the entertainment world came in the 70's and 80's when he created, wrote and produced so many amazing television shows that are still so iconic today and lead the way for legends like Robin Williams and Ron Howard. Marshall brought us, just to name a few, "Happy Days", "Mork and Mindy" and one of my favs "Laverne and Shirley" which once again stared his sister Penny.

Looking back at his life and career I know the entertainment world would be a completely different place if he was never in it and for that I am so grateful that he was. May you rest in peace Garry.

The Secret Life of Pets

What do your pets do when you're away?

In the new movie "The Secret Life of Pets" that is the question they want you to ask, "What are my pet's doing when I'm gone". In this super cute movie we follow dogs Max and Duke on a crazy adventure as they get lost and try to find their way back home. Along the way they meet a crazy cast of characters including a cute little bunny named Snowball who is adorable yet very anti-human and a little crazy. Snowball is voiced by Kevin Hart which makes the character even funnier. While trying to get home they get some help from their pet friends from their apartment building they call home, who set out to help and find Max and Duke. It's a fun little adventure and was enjoyed by not only the kids in the audience, but the adults as well. Out of all of the family movies out right now this is the one I recommend the most so be sure to check it out.

The BFG

The Big Friendly Giant

Over the fourth of July weekend my family did what a lot of families do over the holiday weekend, we went to the movies and saw the newest Disney film, "The BFG". This movie is based off the book written by Roald Dahl, which is about a little girl named Sophie who is taken by a giant back to giant country. This is where she gets to know the big friendly giant along with meet some not so friendly giants as well. The two kindred spirits become friends and have an immediate connection. Though this movie wasn't the greatest or most exciting movie I have seen in a while it was still cute and left you feeling good in the end. We didn't see the film in 3D though I would suggest it since Steven Spielberg did a great job at making a very colorful and visually stunning film. Check out the trailer and this cute movie while it's in theaters this summer.

Finding Dory

Have you found Dory??

Back in 2003 Disney brought us the cute and colorful story of "Finding Nemo" and just two weeks ago they finally gave us the sequel titled "Finding Dory". In "Finding Dory" one of the main characters, Dory, who we all came to know and love from "Finding Nemo" sets out on an adventure to find her parents whom she had lost many years before. Dory suffers from short-term memory loss so finding her parents takes her and her friends Marlin and Nemo on an adventure where of course they meet lots of new lovable characters as well. All in all it is cute movie and should be seen by families this summer but is it as good as the first one??? In my opinion no, the first one was more carefree and lighthearted while this film has more sad parts that made me feel so bad for Dory. So is "Finding Dory" as good as "Finding Nemo", no but you should still check it out in my opinion. If you haven't seen it yet be sure to check out the adorable trailer.

Song of the Summer

What is the 2016 song of the summer?

If you have been following this blog at all over the past couple years you know I love Justin Timberlake and with his latest release "Can't Stop the Feeling" I think it is safe to say it is the official summer song of 2016. Literally everyone and their mom is in love with this song and can't get it out of their heads. When I heard Justin would be putting out new music and saw that he was working with Pharrell I new immediately is was going to be good but I didn't realize how good. When I first heard it I felt the same way as many people do and that it is basically "Happy" all over again which Pharrell gave us back in 2014 and you know what we all need that happy feeling these days. The song is the first song to be released from the upcoming animated feature "Trolls" which features Timberlake along with other actors such as Anna Kendrick and Zooey Deschanel. The movie is set to come out this November. If you just got the song out of your head here is a little refresher, you are welcome!

Fall Out Boy Meets N'SYNC

New Fall Out Boy video has some 90's boy band influence!

On Monday Fall Out Boy released their most recent music video for their song "Irresistible" which features the lovely Demi Lovato. For this video the guys decided to work off the idea behind the N'SYNC video for the song "It's Gonna Be Me" which showed the boys as dolls in a toy store and they came to life and ended up becoming human sized again when they are finally purchased by a model (of course). Fall Out Boy are basically similar dolls in the video and they are in a toy store with none other than N'SYNC's Joey Fatone working in it. The boys hang with a Barbie and Ken and explore the store a little just like N'SYNC did in their video. Instead of getting bought and taken home by a model they end up going home with Demi Lovato in the end. In the very beginning of the video there is another fun N'SYNC cameo by Chris Kirkpatrick who is working in a toy factory that is making N'SYNC and Fall Out Boy dolls. Personally I love N'SYNC and Fall Out Boy so I think this video is great. Check it out and while you are at it check out the classic "It's Gonna Be Me" as well!!
