"Oz The Great And Powerful" Review

"Oz The Great And Powerful"

Last night I went out to see the new Disney film "Oz The Great And Powerful" in IMAX 3D and it was great. The story takes us on a wonderful journey and explains how the land of Oz becomes the place we all know and love from the classic movie "The Wizard of Oz". We start off meeting the wizard himself Oz played by James Franco a traveling circus magician.  During a fight with a fellow circus performer he hops into a hot air balloon and takes off into a storm and when he lands he is in the land of Oz. This is where he meets a witch named Theodora played by Mila Kunis. She quickly falls in love with the wizard everyone has been expecting. They travel to the Emerald City to meet up with Theodora's sister Evanora who is actually the wicked witch. She sends Oz to go and defeat Glinda the good so that Evanora can take over the land. When he meets Glinda he sees the truth and quickly makes Theodora very angry and she turns into the green faced wicked witch of the west we have all come to know. The people of Oz have to go into battle to fight for what is right and to make the wizard of Oz king. The story is a great prequel and does a great job at fully showing us how everything comes to be in the land of Oz. Seeing this in IMAX and 3D is a great experience since the colors and graphics of the movie are so beautiful that you literally feel like you are in this other world. I recommend for everyone to see this movie. I would say there are some parts that might scare young children (my four year old had some scared moments) but in the end she loved the movie. Here is one of my favorite parts, the opening credits of the movie look so amazing in 3D it was very cool to see.

20/20 Experience Part 2???

Have you had enough JT yet??

If you have been keeping up with my blog or know me personally you know I am a giant Justin Timberlake fan (how can you not be right now, he is everywhere) so as you could imagine I am so excited about today being the release day of his new album "The 20/20 Experience". If you weren't one of the many who have been streaming the album this week for free on iTunes you need to check out the album. He covers so many types of music in this album, you have Latin beats in "Let the Groove Get In", R&B with "Tunnel Vision" and soul with "That Girl". All in all the album is amazing and just takes you on a musical journey. If the new album isn't enough tonight on the CW there will be a special concert/interview that was filmed last night at his album release party in Los Angeles. At the concert Justin addressed some rumors about him putting out another album.

He is indeed putting out 10 more songs in a sort of 20/20 experience part 2. There have been no dates released yet though the rumor is we can expect it sometime at the end of 2013. I can not wait because if part two is anything like this album we are in for another musical treat!

"Beasts Of The Southern Wild" Review

My Review Of "Beasts of the Southern Wild"

"Beasts of the Southern Wild" was an interesting movie, the story surrounded a little girl who lives with her father in whats known as the bath tub. They live outside New Orleans from what I gather with others who all live in little trailers and other interesting items near the water. They live a life carefree and fun basically away from civilization and like it that way. We get to see them struggle when a storm comes rolling in and they get taken back to the city.

This movie wasn't one of my favorites of 2012 by any means but it was amazing to watch such a young actress give such an emotional and raw performance. Quvenzhané Wallis ended up getting an Oscar nomination for her performance in the film and I don't think it will be the last time she is nominated. If you like raw and interesting movies I would say see it, but if you like something that leaves you with a happy feeling and smile on your face I would say this isn't the movie for you.

Dallas Says Goodbye to JR

Dallas says goodbye to J.R. Ewing

After the passing of Larry Hagman this past November his beloved TV show "Dallas" had to say good-bye to the "Dallas" icon this week. On the show J.R. was gunned down in a town in Mexico by a thief according local police. They show us at the end that is was someone else who was responsible for the death of J.R. and it is up to his brother Bobby, son John Ross, and nephew Christopher to figure out the mystery and bring them down. The episode brought back many former cast members who all came back to remember not only the character of J.R. Ewing but the man Larry Hagman. It was a very emotional episode filled with great performances by Linda Grey (Sue Ellen Ewing) and Josh Henderson (John Ross Ewing) who you could tell were very upset about the passing of this huge part of the show and their lives off set. It has been reported that the rest of the season is going to be like putting puzzle pieces together that lead to an explosive season finale. I can not wait to see what happens next with this great drama and I know Larry is watching over the show and I am sure he is proud. If you love a great drama and haven't watched "Dallas" yet you should check it out. Great stuff.

RIP Larry

Justin "TimberWEEK"

Justin Timberlake is taking over the air waves!

Last month we found out all about Justin Timberlake's new project "The 20/20 Experience" and at the Grammys got to see his first performance of his new hit "Suit & Tie" and "Pusher Love Girl". Since then he has been all over the place but this week he taking over late night and is planning on being on Jimmy Fallon for a whole week following his hosting gig this past Saturday on "Saturday Night Live".

On "SNL" we got to see Justin become part of the 5 timers club (Wow I can not believe that was his 5th time hosting) with other greats like Tom Hanks, Steve Martin, Chevy Chase, and Alec Baldwin. We got to see him tell us to bring it on down to Vegan-ville and then do the Harlem Shuffle and see him preform his new music. He was great on there as usual and got high praise from everyone it seems like for it.

Starting tonight Jimmy Fallon is having Justin on every night of his show for the whole week and is calling it Justin Timberweek. This hilarious duo is so amazing together and I am sure we are in for plenty of laughs this week. We will probably see an appearance from the Gibb brothers and learn more about the history of rap. Justin is performing a new song every night so we get to hear more of his new album on top of everything else. I suggest not missing this because I am sure it is going to be great.

To cap off this amazing week his newest album "The 20/20 Experience" is coming out next Tuesday March 19th. Everyone should check it out since it will most likely not disappoint. And if you like what you hear you should check Justin out on tour this summer with Jay-Z. Here are the Legends of the Summer tour dates

In case you haven't learned about the "history of rap" here is a little taste of what you are in for this week. Enjoy!

American Idol top 10 predictions

Who will make it to the top 10 on American Idol??

Tonight is the night we find out who will make it to the top ten on American Idol and make to the LA live shows. Usually they start the live shows with around 15 people and and we vote down to 12 and those people go on the summer tour, but this year it is very different. The judges have got it down to ten girls and ten boys and now the top five of each group that america voted on make it to LA and do the summer tour. Many have complained that there is not nearly as much talent this year as previous ones which is true to some extent but there are some stand out contenders this year that will probably make it pretty far. Here are my predictions for who I think will be making it to the top ten tonight.

Top 5 girls
1. Kree Harrison, this girl has a sad and touching background story (which always does well for people on AI for some reason) and her voice is very raw and emotional. She is my favorite girl on the show.
2. Candice Glover, she has a very soulful voice and has come close to making it into the live shows before which shows that she has a lot of talent. I think she will be a favorite.
3. Angela Miller, after singing an original song on the piano during Hollywood week she has been doing really well and is very good at what she does. I think even if she doesn't make it super far in the show I think she will have a career in music after idol.
4. Amber Holcomb, she isn't the best singer on the show but I feel like she is starting to stand out more as the weeks go on.
5. My fifth spot is a toss up and I think it could be either Janelle Arthur (because American Idol fans always seem to like a country artist) or maybe Adriana Latonio.

Top 5 guys
1. Curtis Finch Jr., this guy sings and brings everyone to tears. He is just amazing and can hit notes that no one else on the show can. I think he might make it to the end.
2. Burnell Taylor, he has a great story with dealing with Hurricane Katrina and has already gone threw an amazing transformation with his weight loss since the show has started. To add to that he has such a unique and amazing voice that is great to listen to. I think he should get far in the show. He is my favorite guy in the competition.
3. Devin Velez, he is a wonderful singer and has done songs in both English and Spanish multiple times now that makes him very popular. I think he will make it far.
Spots 4 and 5 are much harder for me to pick from the guys. I feel like are a couple left that are for sure no's and then there are a couple that are good and just might make it in. I could see Elijah Liu, Paul Jolley, and Nick Boddington possibly making it to LA.

Tonight we will find out if my picks are anywhere close to how america feels about the American Idol competition this year. I think I can say my top two for both the guys and the girls are for sure going to make it. I just hope everyone steps up their game as the weeks go on. Who is your favorite idol of the season so far??

New Fall Out Boy

New Album From Fall Out Boy

It has been since December 2008 since the band Fall Out Boy released a new album. The band just recently released their newest song "My Songs Know What You Did In The Dark (Light Em Up)" and it is great. Personally I love rocking out to this song the only problem is it will get stuck in your head but hey their are worse things in the world. Their new album is called "Save Rock And Roll" and is set to come out April 16th world wide. If you are looking to see them in concert this summer on their tour for this album it might be to late if you don't have tickets already, out of their 34 tour dates all but one is sold out. Nice to see that Fall Out Boy still has tons of support from their fans. I am sure the album is going to be typical FOB which means it will be great and come with those classic and interesting song titles. I can not wait to hear the new album myself. If you have not heard the newest single here is a link to hear it. Check it out

"Life Of Pi"

My Review of "Life Of Pi"

"Life of Pi" is the amazing story of a young man who goes on a crazy, unplanned and dangerous journey and lives to tell the tale. We start off by learning about a little boy from India named Pi who is very curious and awkward. He lives with his parents and brother at a zoo that his family owns. As he gets older he becomes very interested in every religion he comes in contact with and starts to follow them all. When Pi becomes a little older, starts to fit in and falls for a girl his family informs him they are moving to Canada and will be taking their animals to America to sell. Due to the animals they take a giant cargo ship to travel from India to America. While on their journey they hit a bad storm which sinks the ship and leaves Pi the only human to survive. While on his life boat he discovers he is not alone he has a zebra, a hyena, an orangutan and a tiger. As anyone could imagine this does not work well as a combo on a boat in the middle of the ocean. It soon becomes survival of the fittest and one animal soon remains with Pi (the tiger). Watching Pi learn to live a life at sea sharing space with a tiger was crazy and with the wonderful work of director Ang Lee and his team you believe this guy is on a boat with a tiger. During their ordeal we see many beautiful, amazing, and unbelievable sights. Eventually after a decent amount of time Pi reaches land but quickly realizes the island is not a safe place to be so he heads back out to sea and when he once again finds land he is rescued and Pi and the tiger part ways. He takes this journey with him for the rest of his life and tells others of his journey though I am sure most people would not believe him. I recommend this movie since the story is unique and very interesting to watch and the movie was shot in such a beautiful way that it is a joy to see.
