Friday Top Five

Five big stories from this week (other than the VMA's)

1. Let's start this weeks top five with the always fun celebrity baby news. This week brought three new celebrity bundles of joy into the world (all boys by the way). On Tuesday morning in Vancouver, Canada Michael Buble and his wife Luisana welcomed their first child, a little boy named Noah. The next day "Sopranos" star Jamie-Lynn Sigler welcomed her first child with fiance Cutter Dykstra, a little boy named Beau Kyle Dykstra. And finally on Friday the long awaited birth of Fergie and Josh Duhamel's baby happened. I felt like Fergie had been pregnant forever so it was nice to hear she finally had her little boy as well. They named him Axl Jack Duhamel. This is also the first child for this couple. Congrats to all of the couples and their new additions.

2. In more celeb baby news Kevin Jonas (from the boy band The Jonas Brothers) and his wife Danielle announced yesterday the sex of their unborn baby. They are indeed having a baby girl (as you can see from this sonogram pic the couple released yesterday). I think they are going to be great parents.

3. Speaking of boy bands one of the biggest boy bands out there right now is the group One Direction and if you are a fan of the group you are in luck because today is the release date of their long awaited 3d movie titled "This is Us". The movie shows fans a behind the scenes look at what the boys are like when they are on tour together. Being a life time boy band fan I can tell you that this movie is probably going to do very well since nothing brings in more money than teenage girls. Expect it to do well at the box office. Personally though I am skipping out on this movie.

 4. If you are a fan of the reality show "Big Brother" you have probably been just like me and have been waiting for the moment Aaryn was evicted to see how uncomfortable her exit interview would get. Well it didn't disappoint. In case you missed it Aaryn had made many racist remarks in the beginning of the season which made many viewers angry. Because of the things she said she actually lost her job outside of the house (and still doesn't know this because the game is still going on). When she was evicted last night she was booed by the studio audience which I think kind of caught her off guard and then the show's host Julie Chen started asking the questions (and things got ugly). Julie asked Aaryn why she said many of the nasty racial remarks that she did and Aaryn said everything she said was not meant to be taken badly and were taken out of context. This lead Julie to than read some quotes of the things Aaryn had said which gave Aaryn the most "deer caught in headlights" look I have ever seen. She went on to say that people from Texas just say things like that and she didn't mean anything bad by it and that she loves everyone in the house. While saying this and trying to defend herself the studio audience laughed at her. People on Twitter quickly got angry about how she tried to take a whole state down with her. Julie ended by saying that she hopes when Aaryn watches everything back she will see what she is talking about and change. The only interview that might be uglier than this one is the one that will happen when a nasty house guest named Amanda leaves the house, and if you watch the show you know what I am talking about.

5. On this blog I try to always cover the positive things and also try not to bash any celebrities. Over the past couple of weeks I have decided not to cover the Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian rumors for this very reason, but today sadly Lamar got arrested for a DUI. Being a LA girl and a Lakers fan I really like Lamar and also really enjoy Khloe so I just wanted to write how I hope all the best for them and truly hope he gets all the help he needs to get everything in his life back on track. Luckily for him I know Khloe loves her husband dearly and will be by his side threw it all. I wish them all the best.

The Best and The Worst of the 2013 VMA's

What was hot and not at the VMA's

Last night marked the 2013 MTV Video Music Awards and as with every year the highlight was the live performances given by today's hottest artist. There were eight different performances last night and some were great, one was (let's just say it) horrible and two other were ehh. Personally out of all of the performances last night I felt Drake and Kanye West did ok. I mean it was nothing special it was pretty much just a normal performance. Kanye was a shadow the whole time he performed so we didn't even really see the guy which isn't always a bad thing.

By far one of the most talked about performances from last night came from that little gem over there, yes Ms. Miley Cyrus. I am sorry but I know she claims to just be growing up and finding herself but she looks like she is just starving for attention. Before the show she spoke about having the torch passed to her in a sense from people like Madonna and Britney for being outrageous on the VMA's. I am sorry but even though Madonna and Britney don't necessarily have the best voices around they are born entertainers and they are great at what they do. If anyone is to bring up when Christina went through her "dirty" phase let's all remind ourselves that not only does Christina perform but she has an amazing voice. Miley has neither of those qualities. She is a mediocre singer and her performance last night lacked any kind of substance. It left everyone who was watching feeling confused and just gross. I think ten years from now she is going to look back on this time in her life and think what the heck was I thinking. She says she is just growing up, but she sure looks immature to me.

Besides those performances the rest of the night they were pretty great. Lady Gaga opened the show last night with her new song "Applause" and was wonderful. She changed her look five times in almost five minutes which was fun to watch. She always puts on a spectacle and though this was more subdued than past performances it was still great to watch. Macklemore and Ryan Lewis performed their song "Same Love" which actually won an award last night. While singing the song with vocalist Mary Lambert, Jennifer Hudson came out and sang along which was a nice touch to the performance. One of my favorite performers, Bruno Mars, performed his new single "Gorilla" last night which happens to be my favorite song off his newest album. Because of the content of the song many left that performance feeling a little like they had just shared an intimate moment with the singer but I thought the performance was amazing and really allowed Bruno's talent to shine. Katy Perry closed the show last night with a performance of her new song "Roar" outside by the Brooklyn bridge. She had a whole boxing theme going on and the overall performance was really good. It looks like this will be another hit for the singer.

By far the most exciting moment on the night was Justin Timberlake's performance for receiving the "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award". He performed for around 15 minutes and sang a medley of literally every hit single he has had in his solo career. On top of that he proved all of us RIGHT and gave us an amazing (yet brief) N'SYNC reunion where literally everyone went crazy! They sang a few seconds of "Gone", "Girlfriend", and ended with a tribute to their 2000 VMA performance with their hit "Bye,Bye,Bye". Pure awesomeness is what it was basically. Justin also made sure to call out today's hot boy band One Direction by saying, "Let's show these young boys how to do it" before showing us their smooth dance moves that they still have ten years later. This then lead to the boys of One Direction to get booed when they received their award after the Justin performance. The night belonged to the men of N'SYNC for sure. If you missed the Justin Timberlake mini concert you need to check it out.

N'SYNC Reunion

N'SYNC will be reuniting at the VMA's

Being a girl who grew up in the 90's my all time favorite boy band was N'SYNC hands down. Though my favorite of the group (Justin) has obviously been in the spotlight since the group broke up in 2002 I still sometimes wish the group was still making music. A few days ago it was released that Justin will be receiving this years "Michael Jackson Video Vanguard Award" which is amazing since the man is only 32 years old and I feel like he still has so much to give us still, though I can not argue that what he has done in his career so far has been nothing short of amazing. Today rumors broke that the boys of N'SYNC will be getting back together for a performance on this years VMA's to I am assuming celebrate Justin's video vanguard award since a nice chunk of his video history was next to the guys of N'SYNC. If this is all true I am could not be more excited about this. Ever since the news broke people can not seem to stop talking about it though it seems like nothing has been seriously confirmed yet so let's all hope this is not just a rumor other wise there will be millions of sad 20 and 30 something girls around the country come Sunday night. Along with the special award Justin is also tied for the most nominations of the night with 6 nominations. I think Sunday is not only going to be a great night for Justin but for all of us. The VMA's will air on MTV this Sunday at 9pm. To get us all in the N'SYNC VMA mood let's check out one of the greatest VMA performances of all time.

New Music From Panic! At The Disco

Panic! At The Disco is back!

Ever since Panic! At The Disco came out with their first hit single ("I Write Sins, Not Tragedies") back in 2006 I have been a fan of the band and their music. After taking a little bit of time off the band is back and getting ready to release their newest album titled "Too Weird to Live, Too Rare To Die" which comes out on October 8th. The first two singles from the album have already been released. The first single was "Miss Jackson" featuring Lolo which came out early last month and just yesterday the video for the newest single titled "This is Gospel" was released. Panic has a way of changing their sound with every new album they do but this newest album seems to be more like their first album which was by far the most popular one they have put out. Personally I am so excited about this album since both singles are great. The group in on tour now and is about to start touring with Fall Out Boy throughout North America. That tour is going to be awesome and if you can check it out I say do it! Someone who will not be on tour with the band this summer is founding member and drummer Spencer Smith who just announced that he is seeking helping for his addiction problems. On the bands site lead singer Brendon Urie wrote a very heart felt letter explaining the situation and how he wants the best for his best friend. I hope Spencer gets the help he needs and can get back to doing what he loves, music. If you haven't checked out any of the new music check out both new singles here. Enjoy and let me know what you think!!

Teen Choice Awards Recap

2013 Teen Choice Awards

Last night was the 2013 Teen Choice Awards and even though it has been years since I was a teen and I haven't watched the show in years I had to watch last night. Being a "Glee" fan I had to couldn't miss Darren Criss (who plays Blaine on the show) co-host the show and on top of that there were rumors that there would be some kind of Cory Monteith tribute from the cast and I wanted to see that. Though there were some winners and stars I did not recognize (once again not a teen anymore!) there were some highlight moments I felt were worth talking about.

The show opened with boy band One Direction singing their newest single "Best Song Ever". Yesterday was the groups last day in America for awhile which they announced while accepting an award for choice music group. The girls in the audience were very excited to see the boys as you could imagine. They also reminded fans to check out their new movie called "This Is Us" which comes out later this month.

A moment I wish I could take back from last night was the end of the night where the two hosts Darren Criss (from "Glee") and Lucy Hale (from "Pretty Little Liars") tried to have everyone get up and "twerk" so they could set the world record for most people twerking at one time. It was so lame!!! The best part was when the cameras panned out to the audience and most people were still sitting making it really dumb. Earlier in the night Darren and Lucy did get Harry Styles (the main guy from One Direction) get up and twerk a little and the girls were very thankful for this it seems like. Looking online today it appears like that was a major take away from last night, sadly.

One moment that isn't getting enough attention in my opinion was the speech given by Ashton Kutcher who won the ultimate choice award which is basically a lifetime achievement award at the TCAs. After seeing Ashton play the role of stoner or dumb cute guy for years he decided to tell today's youth what is really important in life. He started off by reminding people that his real name isn't even Ashton but it is Chris and that when he was younger he learned the three most important things in life were opportunity, being sexy, and building a life. Then he went in depth to talk about how opportunity looks like work and how you should never put yourself above a job but just be happy you have one. Being sexy has nothing to do with looks but is being smart, generous, and thoughtful. and how you need to build a life and not just live a life. Sadly I highly doubt the kids watching will take anything away from the speech but man I wish they would.

And by far the most talked about moment from last night would be the acceptance speech made by Lea Michele for best actress in a TV comedy for her role on "Glee". This was her first appearance since the recent death of her boyfriend/co-star Cory Monteith and it was heart breaking. Her cast accepted an award for best TV comedy right before she was presented her award and I noticed she wasn't there which made sense to me because of how hard it must have been for her to go. And then they announced how she won and she came out from the side of the stage to accept her award. Before she even opened her mouth I was in tears and then her speech took it over the edge. She dedicated her award to Cory and said a beautiful speech about him and how thankful she was to the fans for their support. It was very touching and was probably one of the hardest things she has ever done. I hope she continues to feel the love and support of her friends, family and fans during this horrible time. It was good to see all of them smile and I am sure Cory was smiling too.

Here is a look at the speeches by the "Glee" cast along with Lea.

Here Come "LeAnn & Eddie"

LeAnn Rhimes and Eddie Cibrian get a reality show!

Watch out reality TV there is about to be a new couple in town. It was just reported that LeAnn Rhimes and her husband Eddie Cibrian are going to be having their own reality show on VH1 called "LeAnn & Eddie". After two years of marriage and an extreme amount of drama between the couple and Eddie's ex-wife Brandi Glanville (who is on "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills") the two want to put all the rumors and speculation to rest about their lives. What better way of doing that then a reality show, right? The two are reportedly very happy to let the cameras in and show everyone a peek into their personal and everyday lives. The show isn't set to air until the end of this year or early next year so we have a little time before we see these two faces more than we already do. If you are on team Brandi though you are in luck she just announced that she is getting her own reality show as well. Not shocking that the news of both shows came out at literally the same time. That will start shooting in the next few weeks. Her show is going to be aired on Bravo and will be more about how she is getting over her divorce from Eddie and moving on. I have a feeling that there is plenty of drama to come and we will get to see it all. Now is that a good thing or a bad thing is the question.

"Diana" Preview

First look at "Diana"

If you have been following my blog you know by now that I am a fan of the royals especially since William and Kate's wedding back in 2011. I was a royal family watcher even when I was a young girl and I can remember being devastated when Princess Diana passed away so many years ago. After months of seeing still photos of Naomi Watts behind the scenes as the late princess we finally get to see the trailer for the upcoming movie "Diana". The movie goes more in depth with her personal relationship with a surgeon named Dr. Hasnat Khan who she started seeing after her divorce from Prince Charles. The movie shows the ups and downs of the relationship along with the extreme pressure they were constantly under from the press and paparazzi. This pressure seems to be what stopped the relationship and lead her to Dodi Al Fayed who she later died along side in a horrific car accident in 1997. The movie looks like it will be compelling and really show us how hard things were for this amazing person. I can not wait to see it. The movie is set to release in the US on October 10th. Check out the trailer!

Legends of the Summer Tour Review

Legends of the Summer Tour

A week ago today I still had a post concert glow from seeing Justin Timberlake and Jay Z put on an incredible concert dubbed as The Legends of the Summer Tour. I saw the pair at Candlestick Park in San Francisco, CA last Friday. Besides the fact that I was no where near prepared for the cold (umm it is summer, come on!) it was an amazing night. I have never seen two artist put on a show that meshes so well together. No one upstaged the other and they both were out there for equal amounts of time. Not being a giant rap fan I figured I wouldn't be crazy about the Jay Z part but her definitely gained another fan that night because he was amazing. Being a giant Justin fan I thought he was perfect as usual.
This was my view at the concert. You can see Justin singing!
Though both men have new albums they both sang a large amount of their older songs and big hits which had everyone singing along and having a blast. Most people that have seen the show have said it was one of the greatest concerts that they have ever attended and I would have to agree. I can not remember the last time I had so much fun. Along with this tour Justin will be doing another tour this fall after he releases the second part to the 20/20 Experience. Hopefully I will be attending one of those shows as well and as you can imagine I can not wait till then! If you are not able to make it out to the The Legends of the Summer Tour check out Justin's new video for his newest single "Take Back the Night" and it will give you a little taste of how it was. The video shows footage from his first of two shows he did at Yankee Stadium early in the tour. Enjoy!
